Most molds are harmless, but some are dangerous. Some contain mycotoxins. These are poisonous substances produced by certain molds found primarily in grain and nut crops but are also known to be on celery, grape juice, apples, and other produce.
Ever checked whether there are any molds which have grown on any parts of your little one’s child restraint system (CRS)? Few spots of mold growth may be harmless and can be cleaned. However, mold growth on the entire part of CRS is not!
The best way to kill mold on a fabric is to use bleach but a CRS cover CANNOT BE BLEACHED! So what is your best option?
If mold has grown to most of the surfaces, the mycotoxins can be contained in and around the threads which burrow into the fabric covers and shoulder pads. These mycotoxins may cause allergic reactions and/or respiratory problems to your child. Also, keep in mind that CRS covers and shoulder pads that are moldy may also have invisible bacteria growing along with the mold.
The best way to do it is by replacing the CRS covers and shoulder pads for damages beyond cleaning such as this!
